Here is an extraordinay, stunning editorial from Dinamani, Tamil Daily. The title is: kadavul kaappaatrattum, may paramaatman save. The theme is the disgusting ranting and raving of a Chief Minister, indulging in suggestio falsi and suppressio veri.
I will just attempt a translation of one paragraph: “In the Ramayana kaavya, there are many episodes inculcating righteous values in life. All these are not recognized by our CM. Stating that there is a sentence in Valmiki Ramayana that Rama imbibed soma CM challenges a discussion on it. Rama was a ekapatneevrata; if this did not come to his attention, where is the rub?”I will leave it to some one else to translate this editorial in full, into English. It is too powerful a statement for me to even attempt a summary.
Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (KD/NR)Mangalore, Sep 22: Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi’s resignation has been demanded by the Shree Rameshwara Shree Rama Sethu Rakshana Samithi here on Thursday September 20. CHENNAI: Ruling out the possibility of implementing the Sethusamudram canal project in any other alignment, Union Shipping Minister T R Baalu on Saturday said the Centre would move the Supreme Court, seeking permission to carry out the project in the present route.
Asked about DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s remark that he was not averse to an alternate alignment, the minister said his leader had made that remark “out of anguish” when he was repeatedly asked whether he was bent upon “destroying” the Ram Setu.
“I do not see any such thing as Ram Setu and I know only Adam’s bridge (as Ram Setu is popularly called),” Baalu told reporters here.
Taking a dig at the BJP for opposing the demolition of the Setu, he said the alternate alignment being proposed by that party had already been rejected by the Union Environment Ministry during the NDA regime in 1999.
Though the entire project and the present alignment were approved by the BJP-led regime then, the party leaders were now trying to whip up religious passions to gain political mileage, he alleged. http://tinyurl.com/2kb4px I do not see Ram Setu, I know only Adam’s bridge – T R Baalu
