Ramar Sethu: PM should fix Ministerial responsibility says Advani
Chennai, Sept. 20 (PTI): Demanding that the DMK supremo and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi withdraw his remarks on Lord Ram and Ram Sethu, senior BJP leader L K Advani today said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should fix the ministerial responsibility for the first affidavit filed by the Centre in the Supreme Court on Ram Sethu.
Refusing to accept Union Law Minister H R Bhardwaj’s statement that the first affidavit was a mistake, Advani told reporters here that it was an offence under IPC to wound religious sentiments, for which, the punishment would extend up to three years RI.
“The Prime Minister should fix up the ministerial responsiblity,” he said when asked if he demanded sacking of Union Shipping Minister T R Baalu, Law Minister H R Bhardwaj and Culture Minister Ambika Soni for the affidavit fiasco.
On Karunanidhi’s remarks that there was a conspiracy to stall the Sethusamudram Project, he asked whether the UPA Government, which had stated it would be filing a fresh affidavit, after withdrawing the first one, was part of the conspiracy.
Appeal to Karunanidhi
“Though Karunanidhi is an atheist, I appeal to him to withdraw his remarks. Atheists in America and other countries do not wound religious sentiments. Can such remarks be made against Jesus Christ in countries, where Christians are in majority or against Prophet Mohammed where Muslims are in majority,” he asked.
